We have been enjoying the company of my nephew for a few days, while his father focuses all his effort on a particularly important project. Though Rodolphus, you neglected to warn me that Rigel is going through rather a clinging phase. Or perhaps it only started because he has been without his 'papa' for more than a few hours at a stretch. He was most befuddled when a second bedtime came and he still had not seen either of his parents. It's a lesson he must learn, however, and just as well soon as late. I must say Mrs Baylock has quite a way with him - or should I say that he has quite a way with her?
Meanwhile, the Induction Committee from the DoP have been kind enough to meet here instead of in New London. And it's my turn to host our card party, isn't it, Ursula? So I shall be quite the homebody this week, apart from our evening commitments.
I certainly hope that on at least one of our outings, we shall be able to sample the fare at Monteith, as I keep missing the opportunity to go. The trends all season have been skewed so far toward 'small plates' - not a bad thing, in my opinion, but reducing through starvation only does so much good, after all. Just yesterday I heard the most frightful tale from Catherine Stevens about the measures taken by some of those so-called spas! It's simply not to be borne.

I agree, though, that it's good to keep occupied--and to stay well away from New London's 'spas'. Dodgy at best. Down right dangerous at worst. And truly, the only sure way to keep fit is to eat properly and stick to a reasonable regimen of the sort you yourself keep. Honestly, to hear some people go on, you'd think moderate exercise was the equivalent of being sentenced to the galleys. And so they seem perpetually to put off starting until 'tomorrow', which in the end means never doing a thing to help themselves.

I couldn't agree more about the road to health. Catherine had nothing good to say - the only consolation is that it's not her own daughter caught up in the sordid business.
