Our holiday is shaping up to be quite the lovely intimate gathering!
Lucius has arranged for us all to take a sail this afternoon; in the meantime, we've been on some lovely long walks, the boys have gone flying, we've even managed to sun ourselves a bit while taking in some light reading.
(Though, speaking of reading, Mr Weasley, if you happen to be looking out for my husband's posts, he did mention that he must have left his date book on his blotter at the St James' house. It's been mislaid, at any rate. Now, I hardly think it worth your making the trip to confirm its whereabouts, but he was thinking about returning on Sunday night as he could not recall exactly where to start on Monday morning. If you remembered and could let him know, his wife would be most grateful for the extra time.)
There's a quaint little pub near the end of the quay in the village, where they serve a peculiar morning fry-up. I think Raz has been there every morning since our first; we intend to lunch there before our sail.
I'm so glad that we're joined this morning by my sister and her family, as well. It's astonishing how little we see of them, considering how easy it would be. I think Mother and Pascoal may join us for supper, though not overnight, since these family gatherings are increasingly reserved for Christmas and the like. I truly appreciate having the whole lot of us to enjoy each other's company.

In fact, if you were to not answer, that would suit my husband's particular needs in this case even better than if you did.
Will that do, dear?

As ever.
Private Message to Antonin Nikolaevich
I'm not sure what you've said to Barty but he's bloomed on hearing of your return. Just when I'd almost given up on him finding true love.
I hope we may call once we're back from holiday? When do you leave for Hogwarts? And please, if there are any creature comforts you may need, don't hesitate to tell me what I can do. I confess I'm not at all sure how well your elf may have kept Cottesmore in your absence. Acceptably, one hopes? But surely there are deficiencies, since it could not be expected to know when you would come home.
Now, Lucius mentioned that you're under Healer's care? You really must have the best St M's has to offer; has Healer Fletcher seen you yet? You've no idea how most of your comrades drive me to fits with their stoicism when it comes to the Healing Arts. Do be an example to them in that, as in all other things, Antoshenka, and show them that you submit to the ministrations of those qualified to speed your recovery.
How good to have you taking a firm hand, though. I confess I'll feel much easier about the coming year knowing that you are there, as well as the Razzer, to look after Draco and Harry and guide them properly. That Carrow wench! Well. The less said about her or her brother, the better. They're both gone and none too soon.
In fact, sometime I might amuse you with the truth behind her downfall. We've not forgotten your counsel, Toshenka dear.
Do let me know when you'd be up for a visit, if we can arrange it this week. If not, Lucius and I usually come up for Quidditch and we would welcome you to our table for supper.
Affectionately,
Narcissa C.B. Malfoy
Re: Private Message to Antonin Nikolaevich
I trust Lucius passed along my very best? Also that your holiday is proving relaxing, and that the atmosphere is suitable, though you're the sort who will eternally be capable of lending grace and charm to even the rudest hovel. Which mine, rest assured, is not: any elf Ummi trained would take far more than a decade to forget the lessons. It only wanted a bit of dusting, and of course the pantry needed to be stocked. The pleasure of your company would be the best comfort you could provide, though I may trouble upon you to catch me up on the current players in our merry game -- Lucius took the time to brief me earlier, but I have always valued your particular form of insight.
I am, fear not, submitting to my Healers' admonishments with meekest submissive grace (and making faces at the foul-tasting potions, but only behind their backs), and the care I've received has been impeccable. Things are not as dire as rumor may have it: even St M's agrees the best cure is time and rest, although I'm hoping less time and less rest than they're predicting. My pride received the worst injury, and forbids me to confess the exact sequence of events: I shall only pass on the hard-won piece of advice that if you ever catch yourself thinking "oh, surely the terrain there can't be too bad for an engagement", stop and remind yourself of my folly. I suffer that you might gain.
I'm eager to see your boys again -- from what I could see in our last passing visit, Draco is growing into a fine credit to you and his father both. I will certainly do my utmost to provide what small guidance I might: you know how much joy I find in mentoring others into Our Lord's service and their discovery of the Arts. Though I'm sure Lucius has had Draco's education well in hand. I strongly suspect I will find many others not as fortunate: I've spent the past two days poring over the curriculum she of whom we shall not speak was teaching from, and -- well. Our Lord had his reasons, of that I am certain, but I will confess to finding those more impenetrable than any decision of His I've known before. But that's why He is Our Lord, and we the subjects, no?
Lucius did not mention there was a story to be had there, but you've piqued my interest. I shall look forward to the telling of it. The warm glow of knowing my teachings have been of service will hold me until such time as I can hear the details, but if you had a hand in it enough to know what transpired, I'm certain those details will be delightful. The female of the species, etc.
To the practicalities: I will eagerly receive you (and any of yours you may wish to bring along) whenever you find a moment free. I know how full your schedule was when last we spoke, and I imagine your commitments could only have bred like Puffskeins since. I am keeping invalid's hours this week -- the Healers assure me the tendency to nod off in the middle of a sentence is caused by the potion I'll only need for another few days, which I devoutly hope, as random fits of snoring do not inspire the sort of earnest dread in one's students every teacher should try to cultivate -- but for the chance to see you, milaya, I will leave instructions that I am to be woken.
I shall be at Cottesmore until mid-week or so, then away to Hogwarts to speak with Minerva about my curriculum (and to see what eldrich horrors lurk in the classroom from its last inhabitant). Give my love to the rest of your company -- and tell the Razzer my congratulations, and that I eagerly anticipate meeting his intended (and you'll have to tell me all there is to know about how that came about!)
Yours in perpetual admiration,
T

At least Rigel agrees. Or did you tell him he couldn't zoom about indoors on the broom?
I'm off for a walk round the headland. Need to shake off all this holiday sluggishness. Get the blood flowing. Assume I won't be needed for any reason. (Take it Bella's already left? Didn't see her in the garden with the rest of you.)
Later.

I'm willing to go in to look for the day book tomorrow...it's no trouble for me to pop in to take a look around. But at any rate I can tell you with absolute certainty that his first appointment on Monday is with Stinson at 9:30 am, at St James. I remember because of the reports he asked me to have ready in preparation: they're waiting for him on his desk.

Kindly do believe Mrs Malfoy when she tells you not to trouble about going in to look for my diary. It would be a fruitless errand; I have not misplaced the book at all.
You are lucky that I am well aware of my first appointment on Monday and that we did not choose that item for alteration (though if truth be told, that is one reason I asked Narcissa to use it for her ruse).
No doubt you'll respond with some waffle about how not replying would have looked amiss. Nonetheless -
Nevermind. Barty's returned with news. We'll continue this on Monday.
